The Route of the ATV Buggy Tour

After breakfast and a safety briefing, the buggy tour begins from the Rancho. The 120-horsepower Kawasaki buggies effortlessly tackle obstacles along the way, such as crossing small rivers and climbing hills.

The 42 km route mainly follows dirt roads through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you'll pass plantations of cacao, coffee, and citrus fruits, allowing you to fully enjoy the untouched nature.

You'll also get to meet the friendly locals from the villages in this non-touristic inland area that we drive through. Additionally, the tour includes visits to two attractions in this region: Peña Alta and Cueva Fun Fun.

Peña Alta.

Peña Alta is a 408-meter-high mountain and the highest point in this area. The 5 km climb to the top is on a dirt road. At the top of the mountain you have a fantastic view of the beautiful nature of this area. You can take a seat on the spectucal 6-meter-high swing. The hovering moments above the precipice produce wonderful photos. The family that lives at the top of Peña Alta demonstrates the grinding and brewing of coffee the authentic way. Of course, you get to try it yourself and taste the freshly brewed coffee.

Cueva Fun Fun Fun.

Cueva Fun Fun is the largest cave in the Caribbean. An underground river flows through the 18 km long system of corridors. The entrance to the cave is hidden in the tropical rainforest. Cueva Fun Fun was inhabited centuries ago by the Taino Indians who left their sculptures here. Inside the cave you can see a spectacle of the giant stalactite formations of all shapes and colors. At the exit of the cave is a natural pool with a small waterfall in the clear water you can refresh yourself. Before we start the drive back to the Rancho there is the possibility for those interested to participate in a short jungle walk. The route goes through a tropical rainforest and along the banks of a river.

Step into a powerful Kawasaki KRX 1000 buggy and explore the rugged, green inland region of the Dominican Republic during a spectacular 22-kilometre off-road tour. Enjoy hilly trails, river crossings, and a generous dose of adrenaline as you travel through the true rural landscape.

During the second part of this unique combo excursion, you will dive into the world of authentic Dominican products. Learn all about the preparation of chocolate, coffee, and rum and enjoy the rich flavours of these traditional products. You will also be introduced to the national drink, Mamajuana. During a relaxing walk through the eco-cocoa plantation, you will discover various exotic fruit trees such as avocados, bananas, mangoes, and oranges, and learn more about the agricultural products of this beautiful country. Depending on the season, you can taste freshly picked fruit from the plantation.

On the way, we may make a stop at the central park of Hato Mayor. This is one of the most beautiful parks in the Dominican Republic, known for its colourful mosaics inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudí.
